I do appreciate the fact that the main concern is that there may be some underage girls involved or women coerced into this situation. While one mother did express grief at her daughters working as strippers or prostitutes, overall the concern was with any possible trafficking or coercion. Forced work of any kind is horrible but it could be a hell of a lot worse. A possibility exists for freedom. Of course, I wonder if we will hear about the exiled Iraqis that didn't get so lucky. The ones that may find themselves literally enslaved and literally closed off from public views; ones that may have been forced into domestic servitude where they may never leave the actual house and none of us out here in the world know their fate. |
| Nic June 3, 2007 10:57 AM PDT I am an advocate of prostitution when any woman or man "wants" to enter into it. When they are in control, with regards to who they see and what they do. I do not like pimps of any kind; I have had to step between some and their girls in the past. I see these women as casualties of the war started by the US. A war that disrupted the lives of every Iraqi . I saw Vietnamese girls turn to hooking after being raped by US military personnel; theirs was not a choice. As with the Iraqi girls, they bare a stigma associated with disgrace. Muslim women are often killed by family members for such a thing as being raped; I can only imagine how desperate they must be. For them there will never be a "freedom" from this experience. As for those forced into slavery and never seen again, it happens daily to girls trying to make life better. Many of them have been enslaved in the US for years. George Bush's war has destroyed a culture; I hope he rots in hell, and is butt fucked by demons for all eternity. | ||
