Decriminalizing Prostitution: A Series In Five Parts

If you've read my profile, I have made mention that I support the decriminalization of prostitution. There is a difference between the legalization of prostitution and the decriminalization of prostitution. Before I actually began researching the business in hopes of becoming active within it, I thought they were one in the same. How wrong I was!

This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart as a sexual libertine. It's a subject that all people who claim to be so appreciative and open about sexuality should have near and dear to their hearts. Yet, when this subject is broached it is easy to see just how 'open' some people are. Their assholes tighten quicker than the vice squad's grip on a madam's money.

Let me first define what prostitution is and what it isn't in brief. Prostitution is the act of two or more consenting adults entering into a contracted and paid agreement for the purpose of sexual gratification. Notice the underlined. That's very important. Anti-prostitution activist love throwing the smoke screen or rallying cry "Won't someone please think about the children!!!!" (think Mrs. Lovejoy from The Simpsons whenever she says that.) in response to decriminalizing prostitution. Child prostitution as well as coersion will be addressed in a later post. Prostitution is not forced and certainly is not the only arena where women, men or children can be forced into a situation that is unsuitable. Millions of people every day are placed into those circumstances without the aspect of sex in the background. It doesn't make it any less coersion or exploitative. Hell, ask mall workers whether they feel exploited or not by the companies they work for. With or without sex, a forced situation is a forced situation and there are already laws in place to deal with that.

The series will be posted in this order:

Part I: The History You Don't Know About the World's Oldest Profession
or 'Wow! That chapter wasn't in the history books!'

Part II: Why Legalization Is Not A Good Option
or 'Well, why can't we control a whole group of people based on sexual activity?'

Part III: Coersion, Fraud, Deception: The Child Prostitution and Human Trafficking Smoke Screen
or 'Won't someone PLEASE think about the children!!!'

Part IV: How Laws & Attitudes Against Prostitutes Affect EVERY Woman
or 'Yes, I'm a whore, what are you going to say now?'

Part V: Unrepentant Libertine: Conclusion
or 'See, this is why history and knowledge is so important.'

Obviously, you can disagree with me on one or all of these points, but they're just my points and opinions I've come to in my research on the most fascinating aspect of our being: sex. I'm going to be ambitious and try to post one part every day from December 22/23-December 28. But, don't hold me to that. :P Honestly, I'm not going to take forever to write this unlike a certain author of a certain book series about a certain boy wizard who...okay, I think you know who I'm talking about. Heh.

Well, fellow libertines. I hope to see you around. Feel free to ask constructive and mature questions about anything I present. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

Hugs and Kisses,

~La Libertine

" two or more consenting adults entering into a contracted and paid agreement for the purpose of sexual gratification." Many people in a confused state of mind think thats marriage.

I had a g/f in college that wanted to turn pro. She was unfortunately being used by an L.A.P.D> Seargeant/Pimp. I had to rescue her and get her out of the city.

More corruption in the system and police depts. than on the street.

Prefer to think that you are thinking Call Girl rather than street Pros.

Definitely the higher echelon of prostitutes, but I'm going to cover all the bases in my pseudo-scholarly 'dissertation'. The police are absolutely disgusting when it comes to dealing with, especially, street prostitutes. There's just no humanity there.
